This January recruitment period is always a period of intense speculation and potential major deals. Several notable stars are being linked with transfers away from their current clubs. We examine some of the key names who might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City have emerged as his services. Former suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

The English centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. As his deal due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite clubs, including City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, particularly given the manager's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has had first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Although being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started just a handful of league games. It is understood the London outfit is open to a transfer for the correct valuation, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an inquiry.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be poised for a return to the English top flight following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now only 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barça following new coach Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a winter exit seems increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The proven England striker has continued scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling chances of being in the national squad. However, securing a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge weekly wages make any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all linked as admirers.

Due to FIFA regulations about representing two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the sole viable outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkish attacker has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. As his existing contract running down, many Premier League clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to tie down the youngster to a new long-term agreement but face a race to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ side. This teenager is heavily tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
